The Resident Engineer (RE) is responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure work of a project is carried out according to the quality, time and cost requirements of the contracts. The RE is responsible to the Production Director and is to be the focus of contact between Taylor Wimpey Production Department and the Engineering and Commercial teams, contractors and statutory bodies on site.

The RE will monitor the construction and completion of works to ensure they are implemented in accordance with the design, specification and industry standards. They will also need to manage any Variation Orders and value engineer the project as appropriate.  They must keep the Production Director and Engineering team fully up-to-date of the works and keep detailed records of all matters which may affect the engineering instructions or other actions under the contract.

What you will do:

  • Preparation for the delivery of infrastructure including remediation, regrade, roads, sewers, services, etc. on various developments
  • Deliver infrastructure in accordance with local authority agreements to ensure compliance with documents and earliest reduction and cancellation of bonds
  • Overall co-ordination of the delivery of main infrastructure and services to achieve company targets
  • Attend internal project meetings / pre tender / pre start / site start / regular site project meetings / client meetings / specification reviews and any other relevant meeting as required under the company’s operating framework.
  • Be predominately site-based to ensure works are delivered satisfactorily.

What you will have:

  • Engineering related qualification
  • High level of proficiency on AutoCAD
  • Thorough understanding of technical and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to interpret geotechnical and environmental reports and make suitable recommendations
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise
  • Track record of negotiating successful technical approvals
