As a land buying trainee you will assist the land team with identifying, appraising and acquiring new land opportunities. You will draft land offers, take an active role in affordable housing agreements and  incidental land transfers and disposals. Ultimately you will be involved in every step of the land purchasing process up until you hand it over for development to begin. 

What will you do: 

  • Assist the land team with identifying, appraising and acquiring new land opportunities. Draft land offers, take an active role in affordable housing agreements and  incidental land transfers and disposals.
  • Use, maintain and update the Land Asset Database. Maintain the departments database of contacts and update the land list.
  • To learn the land appraisal viability model and COINS systems, assist with land purchase valuation exercises and make land offers with a view to agreeing initial Heads of Terms, leading onto the drafting of contracts.
  • Build and develop relationships, internally and externally, with individuals and groups of interested parties in the land acquisition and planning process with particular focus on agents, consultants, local authority officers.
  • Instruct & appoint consultants. Keeping trackers on fee expenditure. Raise Purchase Orders.
  • Assist the land team with the preparation of Land Purchase Exercise (LPE) packs.

What will you have: 

  • Full driving licence 
  • A - Levels, NVQ’s or suitable degree qualification in a relevant subjects or where transferable skills can be demonstrated
  • Previous experience within industry or related industry (preferred)
  • Desire to gain degree or further related academic or professional qualifications eg RICS or RTPI

  • DVLA
  • Qualification check
