An exciting new opportunity to own the Commercial function for Taylor Wimpey at a group level. The Group Commercial Director will work closely with the other group functions, in particular Production and Technical. Reporting directly to the Group Operations Director you will look to develop processes and strategy in line with the overall commercial objectives of the business driving best practice and cost discipline across all UK regions.

The Group Commercial Director will work closely with the other group functions, in particular Production and Technical. Reporting directly to the Group Operations Director you will look to develop processes and strategy in line with the overall commercial objectives of the business driving best practice and cost discipline across all UK regions.

What you will do:

  • Drive a value added and cost-control culture throughout the Company
  • Own, develop and embed efficient processes and procedures that deliver effective cost control via the consistent production and review of robust appraisals, development budgets and Cost to Completes
  • Using data and analytics to provide commercial insight and strategic direction to drive & improve commercial performance
  • Ensure the Company receives value-for-money from its sub-contractors by promoting highly valued relationships and assisting the regional businesses to work closely with sub-contractors to ensure best practice and shared success
  • Drive consistent use of our ERP system; COINS across the group to support commercial control and reporting

What you will have:

  • Extensive experience in a senior commercial position – leading teams, managing a P&L, driving strategy   A strong knowledge and appreciation of UK building regulations
  • Expert knowledge of the housebuilding sector, associated legislation, processes and systems including Technical and on site Production/Construction.  A degree or higher education course which is accredited by the Institution for Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • Expert knowledge and demonstrable experience in strategic cost analysis, data driven decision making and driving best practice  
  • Natural leader with the ability to motivate, inspire and drive performance within their own team and across the regional businesses
  • Understanding of COINS or similar cost reporting ERP system would be beneficial but not essential
