We are looking for a Mixed Tax Assistant Manager to work within a small internal tax department, reporting to the Head of Tax and regular interaction with the Group’s two Tax Managers. This role spans across VAT, Corporation Tax, Employment Taxes and Stamp Taxes.

The purpose of this role is to assist the Group to comply with external reporting and filing requirements and to assist departmental projects and initiatives.

This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to learn and grow as a tax professional with a leading residential house builder.

What you will do:

  • Assisting with monthly Group VAT return preparation and review.  Example tasks would be review of Business Unit monthly submissions, such as accuracy of submission and querying any unusual figures, consolidation of VAT data, analytical review of data; follow up queries with BUs where unusual trends identified.
  • Preparation of Corporation Tax computations and Returns on Alphatax for tax managers review.
  • Maintenance and monitoring of Stamp Tax database.
  • PAYE Settlement Agreement – assisting Tax Manager as required.
  • Assisting with ad hoc queries from Bus across all taxes.
  • Assistance with other tax projects as required.

What you will have:

  • Experience of preparing and filing VAT returns.
  • Experience of preparing Corporation Tax returns.
  • Prior use of Alphatax (Corporation Tax software).
  • ATT (Association of Tax Technicians and or AAT (Association of Accounting Technical) or other professional qualification.
  • Some experience of Real Estate Tax issues.
  • Some experience of Employment Tax issues.
