Job summary/Purpose

To maintain and update the purchase ledger in order to pay the suppliers within the agreed payment terms. This involves generating coding, checking invoices, working out VAT payments, checking & reconciling statements & dealing with all purchase enquiries. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Processing of high volume purchase ledger invoices
  • Prepare & process payment runs for purchase ledger & subcontractor ledger
  • Monthly Supplier Statement Reconciliations
  • Manage purchase ledger queries from suppliers & staff in a professional & timely manner which will require excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Set up of new suppliers/Subcontractors & any necessary amendments to existing suppliers
  • Ensuring VAT & CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) Compliance
  • Resolve workflow queries
  • Resolve aged debt queries
  • Regular review of outstanding invoices 
  • Maintain subcontractor insurances
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required

Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements

  • Purchase Ledger experience
  • Great interpersonal and communications skills
  • Self-discipline and organisational skills
  • Good team working skills
  • The ability to work to deadlines
  • An aptitude for IT – knowledge of software packages like Excel and BACS
  • Knowledge of Coins
  • Knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
