Job summary/Purpose
- The Training Lead is an experienced role within Taylor Wimpey IT, leading a team of Training Support and accountable for the creation of training materials and delivery of training programmes alongside technology deployment to support Taylor Wimpey with service adoption.
- This position involves providing in-depth knowledge of business priorities, goals and how IT can embed successfully deployed services into the organisations.
- The role will also run communication campaigns and initiatives to oversee the effective delivery and adoption of new and existing services within the business.
- This role requires excellent interpersonal skills in order to develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff, managers and stakeholders at all levels across Taylor Wimpey and its suppliers.
- This role also requires the ability to analyse complex business problems in order to formulate and deliver appropriate training solutions whilst maintaining business satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities
Learning & Development Management: Delivering management and advisory services to support the development of IT/Service knowledge, skills and competencies at all levels across Taylor Wimpey. Activities may include — but are not limited to:
- Determining the learning and development programme and delivery mechanisms needed to grow staff skills in line with business needs
- Managing the development and provision of all training activities, taking account of the strategic aims of Taylor Wimpey
- Designing the skills and capabilities requirements of staff at all levels in order to adopt deployed technologies and services
- Identifying or approving appropriate knowledge transfer and training solutions, accreditations and qualifications
- Selecting, tailoring and adopting skills and competency frameworks
- Selecting and overseeing the operation of learning/training management systems
- Securing organisational resources to execute the training strategy
- Managing the training budget, allocating resources effectively, and ensuring that training initiatives are cost-effective and deliver a strong return on investment
- Identifying opportunities for strategic relationships with suppliers and business partners
- Managing the administering, documenting, tracking, reporting on learning and development activities
Training Design and Development: Designing and developing resources to transfer knowledge, develop skills and change behaviours. Activities may include — but are not limited to:
- Specifying, designing, creating, packaging and maintaining training materials and resources
- Selecting, customising/localising, and presenting training material in a form suitable to the intended purpose and audience
- Commissioning and overseeing the development of training materials, allocating resources to training teams and defining training outcomes
- Leading training programmes, recommending and specifying interventions for design, development and deployment according to agreed learning outcomes
- Overseeing configuration and testing of training environments
- Identifying, selecting and securing third-party accreditation and training support (as required)
- Ensuring the creation of simulated data, replication of external systems, interfaces and assessment systems for simulated training environments.
- Working in collaboration with Adoption Analyst to develop & deliver reinforcement training programmes that makes change stick across Taylor Wimpey
Training Delivery: Managing the delivery of training programmes, knowledge communication campaigns and initiatives to ensure training objectives are met. Activities may include — but are not limited to:
- Preparing, delivering or supervising the delivery of training activities for a variety of audiences
- Ensuring trainings are customised to incorporate relevant scenarios and cases
- Supervising and advising the team in training delivery techniques and options
- Evaluating and monitoring the performance of training/campaign delivery activities
- Ensuring feedback is collected and analysed, and training materials are adapted accordingly to meet the needs of end user
- Conducting post go-live reviews to identify lessons learned and further training requirements and ensuring that these are addressed
Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrated experience of training needs analysis in a large organisation focusing on IT
- Extensive experience of designing training curriculum and developing training material
- Strong interpersonal & influencing skills
- People management/supervisory experience
- Knowledge Management experience
- Proven experience of managing delivery of multiple IT service training programmes to end user community
- The ability to form a well-rounded understanding of technology, operations and business processes in a large organisation
- Strong project management skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
