Job summary/Purpose

Inventory Management:

Stock Monitoring:

  • Regularly monitor stock levels across various product lines to ensure availability aligns with production schedules.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between actual stock and recorded inventory.

Ordering and Replenishment:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials, placing orders as necessary to prevent production delays.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to negotiate favourable terms and resolve any supply chain issues.

Data Analysis:
Reporting:

  • Generate comprehensive reports on stock levels, usage patterns, and turnover rates to inform finance Manager 
  • Analyse stock movement data to identify trends and forecast future inventory needs, adjusting orders accordingly.

Performance Metrics:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory management and monitor performance against these metrics to drive improvement.

Collaboration:
Interdepartmental Coordination:

•    Work closely with production teams to understand material requirements and adjust stock levels accordingly.
•    Liaise with the Buyer to ensure alignment between purchasing decisions and production schedules.
Communication:
•    Serve as a point of contact for internal teams regarding inventory status, providing timely updates on stock availability and expected delivery dates.

Process Improvement:
Best Practices:

  • Implement and maintain efficient stock control processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through improved inventory management practices and waste reduction.
  • Ensure goods are inspected in accordance with Taylor Wimpey Procedures & Policies. 
  • Carry out annual stock take, and report results to the Finance Manager, manging discrepancies and investigating causes

Technology Utilisation:

  • Utilise inventory management software to streamline operations, ensuring accurate tracking of stock levels and movements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies that could enhance inventory management efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the inventory of materials and stocked products, including stock profiles and designated locations.
  • Manage and conduct inventory stock counts and accuracy check to ensure precision in inventory records.
  • Organise and control the goods inward and stock control departments to effectively support production and align with business objectives.
  • Ensure that incoming products are received and processed in accordance with company procedures.
  • Guarantee that materials are prepared and available for production as needed.
  • Take charge of planning and executing regular stock takes.
  • •    Generate and provide regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • •    Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing, and other department managers to enhance inventory control procedures.
  • •    Assist the buyer with procurement tasks as needed.
  • •    Responsible for reporting and documenting waste materials, logging this information in Sage X3.

Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements

  • Have a working knowledge and ability to use Sage or a similar package plus Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel
  • Self-Motivated and able to work Autonomously
  • Experience with computerized systems with respect to barcode scanning
  • Knowledge of building materials
  • Good communication and negotiating skills
