Job Summary
Taylor Wimpey is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sustainability Reporting Manager to lead our sustainability reporting initiatives. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate, transparent, and strategic environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosures aligned with UK-specific regulations for a FTSE100 business. The successful candidate will manage data collection, internal and external reporting, and performance forecasting to support Taylor Wimpey’s sustainability targets.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Annual and External Sustainability Reporting
- Lead the preparation of Taylor Wimpey’s quarterly sustainability reports, and support a move to monthly reporting for some metrics.
- Complete carbon accounts for Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions for the business.
- Ensure compliance with SECR reporting requirements, and feed into TCFD, CDP and related ESG reporting frameworks.
- Coordinate with external auditors and respond to ESG rating agencies and investor inquiries.
- Benchmark against UK housebuilding peers and industry best practices.
2. Internal ESG Performance Reporting
- Develop internal dashboards to monitor ESG KPIs including carbon emissions, biodiversity, waste, water, and energy efficiency.
- Provide regular written updates to senior leadership and the board.
- Translate ESG data into actionable insights for operational teams.
3. Data Collection and Management
- Oversee Sustainability data collection across the business, including suppliers and regional offices.
- Implement data governance protocols and ensure audit readiness.
- Utilize ESG data platforms to manage and validate sustainability metrics.
4. Analysis and Forecasting
- Conduct scenario analysis to forecast performance against net-zero targets.
- Support the development of science-based targets and climate risk assessments.
- Identify risks and opportunities related to evolving UK environmental regulations.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
- Collaborate with departments including Planning, Technical, Operations, and Sales to integrate sustainability into core operations.
- Support materiality assessments and stakeholder consultations.
Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Accounting, Carbon Reporting or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in sustainability reporting within the UK construction or real estate sector.
- Strong knowledge of UK sustainability frameworks and regulations.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and ESG reporting platforms.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Preferred experience - Experience with mandatory sustainability reporting standards and carbon accounting.
