Job Summary
To be responsible for all aspects of Taylor Wimpey’s Timber Frame Manufacturing facility, to provide timber frame kits to the regional business.
Primary Responsibilities
Operations
- Lead, manage and deliver the growth objectives for the set-up of the Timber Frame business. Oversee all project phases from concept through to day one of production and beyond; be instrumental in the setup of the operation.
- Report to the Board on progress.
- Manage the P&L, forecasting & reporting, steering efficiencies in profitability and revenue growth.
- Manage the integration of the operation within the wider Group and the Business Units.
- Deliver and continuously develop the Timber Frame strategic roadmap and strategic vision, and innovation - ensuring Group wide buy-in.
- Ensure that Technical, Operations and Production remain on track and receive relevant support to deliver their objectives.
- Leadership & Management: Lead, manage, and develop the Timber Frame Senior Leadership Team.
- Drive a culture of innovation, flexibility and adaptability so the operation can adapt quickly to any change in market conditions.
- Ensure effective collaboration within the wider Group; working closely with Group to help push strategic adoption of Timber Frame by the Business Units.
- Commercial: Have commercial responsibility and overview of all operation, including focus on Production output, Financial Profit & Loss, Strategic Plan and implementation, Business Plan.
- Be responsible for the Health & Safety for the operation.
- An experienced, operationally and commercially focused MD/GM ideally from within the Timber Frame industry, with major house building experience.
- To provide regular reports to the Supply Chain Director as requested on Timber Frame Business matters
- Maintain a comprehensive and up to date knowledge of all relevant legislation, procedures and best practise for Timber Frame manufacturing
- To support Taylor Wimpey’s Health and Safety and Customer Service objectives.
Management
- To manage the Head’s of Department to ensure that they build long-term relationships and seek innovative and cost effective solutions to meet the required targets and objectives
- To lead in the recruitment, induction, motivation and monitoring of the Timber Frame team, encouraging succession planning
- and people development
- To ensure that annual staff performance appraisals are carried out for the wider Timber Frame team
- Actively consider the training and development of the Head’s of Department and wider Timber Frame team
- Communicate and role model the Taylor Wimpey Cultural Principles
Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements
- Possess Timber Frame manufacturing experience within the House Building sector
- Possess highly developed operational skills
- Demonstrable stakeholder management skills
- Experienced in leading and managing teams
- Excellent continuous improvement skills
- IT literacy inc MS word, Excel, Powerpoint
