Job Summary
The role of the Group Quality Manager is to enhance quality assurance, consistency, standardisation and build quality across the entire group, the role involves close collaboration with all departments to ensure group-wide compliance with Building Regulations, Building Safety Act requirements, manufacturer installation guidance, designs, details, and standards. The position supports and develops regional teams to uphold consistently high construction standards throughout, fostering a right first-time culture. Trends, root causation, training needs, and development requirements are reported to the UK Production Director to formulate training and improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
Overall Quality / Compliance
- Conducting regional site visit on a regular rotating basis along with the Regional Quality Manager and Production Team focusing on but not limited to:-
- Ensuring the Build Quality Checklist (BQC) for the Site Management team and individual trade BQCs are complete.
- Compliance with drawings, details, standards, regulations and manufacturers guidance.
- Ensuring robust contractor quality assurance and supervision is in place.
- Developing a standardised approach to the QM role.
- Ensuring the BQC Quality Manager checklist is complete on each site when visiting.
- Undertake Ad hoc inspections of plots nearing completion to ensure HQI quality is maintained.
- Review Build Quality Reports submitted each quarter by the regional Quality Managers.
- Support QMs with NHBC standards/building regulation clarifications
- Support QMs with NHBC RI and CQR appeals
- Ensure compliance with TW details and drawings for standardisation.
- Improve the standardisation in approach to quality
- Monitor/develop a system to check quality assessments of Part L photographs
- Monitor/develop up a system to check quality assessments of Fire Photo evidence quality assurance
- Advise on amendments to Digital BQC
- Attend NHBC consistency days as required
- Attend and arrange Quality Improvement Plans including drafting close out reports
- Monitor CQRs and RIs for trends and report to Group Production team including any action plan for continual improvement
- Drive and continually improve NHBC PIJ Performance
- Working with Group Commercial / TWL to improve material storage on site
- Take responsibility for quality sections for PD, PM and QM meetings/conferences
- Share best practice to regional teams to assist with improving quality and standardisation
Reporting
- Collate and upload relevant findings, reports and photographs in relation to build quality and standardisation, ensuring the accuracy of weekly reports forwarded to the Group Production Team and other departments as required.
- Attending meetings with Production Directors/Managers to relay key findings which will be used to inform management strategy.
- Produce a monthly report to the UK Production Director for submission to OMT, summarising any points in regard to quality.
- Monitor and track the progress of the business’s quality KPIs. Plan intervention where and when required.
- Assist and monitor conclusion of audits such as BSA compliance.
- Report on Part L photographic evidence and Fire Photographic evidence compliance
Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements

- Knowledge and experience of building standards and warranty provider requirements
- Previous inspection role within the house building industry
- IT skills – Microsoft package, and mobile applications
- Driving licence
